Liquid phase solvents absorption from exhaust gas (stripper or abatement)
Absorption in a liquid phase is a solvents recovery process suitable for
AIR/GAS flows containing high concentrations of high-boiling solvents. It is also very
suitable for the recovery of chlorinated solvents.
For this process, abatement strippers are used, the
solvents recovery is divided into two phases:
1. Abatement/Absorption The air flow containing solvents
is directed to stripping column by a fan; it enters in the lowest part of the
stripping column from the bottom side and, passing through high efficiency and low
pressure drop filling bed, meets the abatement liquid which is fed to the
stripper from the column head. The gas leaving the column is released in the
atmosphere, free from the solvent and then purified. The abatement liquid containing
the recovered solvent will be sent to the second recovery phase, that is the
distillation.
2. The distillation of the effluent liquid coming from the
strippers, allows to recover and purify solvents to reuse them in the production
process.
